The Offerings of Peace


One of the twin statues outside the Art Gallery of NSW by the English sculptor Gilbert Bayes cast in London and erected in 1926.

The inscription reads:


'The real and lasting victories are those of peace and not of war.'

How sad it is that those who promote "peace" forget the dictum "To have peace, one must prepare for war". «Louis» is thinking at the moment how the Chamberlain government in the U.K. failed to stop Hitler because they sought accommodation and compromise with a man whose promised meant nothing...
