Goulburn Court House

So surprised when I saw this in a side street, I have driven through Goulburn dozens of times and never seen this. This court house was built in 1847 and was designed by Mortimer Lewis, the Colonial Architect. This is my last stop before I return to Sydney tomorrow.

The walk of shame

In New South Wales we have an independent commission against corruption (ICAC). At the moment there is a particularly juicy case being heard where corruption is being exposed at the highest level.

Darlinghurst Courthouse

This is detail from a great old colonial building the NSW Supreme Court. Up along Oxford Street in Darlinghurst. The Darlinghurst Court House was built in 1835 and is still in operation today. Designed in the Greek revival architectural style like many of Sydney's important buildings.

Also back from holidays on the NSW North Coast just a few degrees warmer. It is always a dilemma about posting in advance - obviously bored the pants off any viewers with my Lions Club series. If I may divert from Sydney and post one of my North Coast pictures here is one of the many beaut sunsets.

Court Gates

Pretty definite about the closing time - 4.30pm SHARP! must have to get home to pick up the kids from day-care. This is inside the Darlinghurst Court, one of the few NSW Supreme Courts. Another place where capital punishment was carried out.

Supreme Court of NSW

As I was walking to work this morning the light was being reflected from across the road. This is one of the two Supreme Courts in NSW, the other is at Darlinghurst
According to a court history page It was opened in 1896 and was "bright and pleasant, quiet and comfortable", probably everything the original court house was not." It is worthwhile going inside and listening in to a juicy murder case. Just make sure you bow to the judge on the way in and out.
