Hanging out the washing

Martin Place this morning getting ready for a promotion for Kit and Ace. "Canadian technical cashmere experts Kit and Ace continue their pursuit for Australian domination with a new store opening in the heart of Sydney in Martin Place, which will be the brand’s first international tailor shop in the country. The 360 square metre retail space will offer more of the same classic tailoring and technical details Kit and Ace have become known for, but will feature a Technical Atelier, a workshop for up-and-coming local designers. Part tailor shop, part design lab, the Technical Atelier is a hub of innovation where Designers in Residence capture fresh trends and local input to create new styles."

New world record for Sydney

Walking down Martin Place last week and found this, a new world record attempt for ... pulled pork. Really. Today in Sydney’s Martin Place, Australian Pork recorded the Guiness World Record for the biggest serving of pulled pork. The exact record amount was for meat cooked and served on site was a very impressive 707kg.

Martin Place flowers

Martin Place has become the focal point for grief following Monday's siege. The flowers continue to grow and it is heart wrenching to watch as crying people queue to lay their flowers. Office workers, pensioners, and young families all in line. There is also a tent with condolence books with people queing yesterday to write lengthy messages to the families of Tori Johnson and Katrina Dawson, the two people killed. Click here for a story on Tori.

Sydney Siege Day

Yesterday was a strange and terrible day in Sydney. The siege was nearby and our building was in lockdown. Sirens went non-stop for over an hour and rumours were flying. Things like there was a bomb at the Opera House and the Bridge was closed. The Christmas crowds disappeared and shops started closing. No-one could work with that going on. We all left work early. Then to wake up to the terrible news this morning ... two hostages killed.
