MItchell Library reading room


The main reading floor. The Mitchell Library holds Australia’s greatest documentary record of cultural heritage. It also holds the world’s most significant collections of Australian and Pacific material, including the original journals of Abel Tasman, James Cook and Matthew Flinders.

  1. What a library! I've a soft spot for libraries and this one looks fantastic. You could spend hours getting lost in the collection - beautiful capture.

I stumbled across this magnificent place whist visiting Sydney last month,I ended up with the help of a wonderful lady librarian(Wendy) finding my late father who emigrated there 40+years ago.Forever grateful. and cant wait till next year hopefully when I'm able to visit this beautiful country again god willing.Peter Salmon,Henley on Thames,England.
