The Sydney Fernery was opened in 1993, and made possible as the result of a generous gift to the Gardens from the (Vincent) Fairfax Foundation. Other (earlier) ferneries had stood on this site. As I'm typing this sitting on a bench in my garden I am looking at some ferns. We call them Ormbunkar.
