On trial in Sydney is this pedestrian countdown timer on George Street. Other cities have them and it gives the pedestrians information to make a decision about their crossing.
What a clever idea. I think it is a great one for pedestrian safely. All the different shades of red in this shot make it so interesting. It is full of life and local color. Love it!
Es ist ehr interessant mit Dir zusammen durch die Straßen Sydney's zu gehen. Im Unterschied zu google street view sind bei Dir die Menschen nicht gepixelt...so bekommt eine Stadt ein Gesicht!
Interesting.... I think it depends on the persons age, an older person should only attempt to cross when it first changes to green, and a younger person can dash across a few seconds later as they rush down the street.

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the timer. Some people are very slow.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that some people are not taking notice of them though and still crossing way too late. It may take some time to train the slowies.
ReplyDeleteI guess there will always be those 'risk takers'

ReplyDeleteGood angle for this shot, Peter. Like the canopy.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it will change behaviour. I haven't seen any of these yet.
ReplyDeleteJa Chris, keine verpixelten Gesichter für mich, erhalten Sie das wahre Bild!
ReplyDeleteJoan, Sydney has a contagion of bad behavior.
Jan agree, more time for pedestrians, needed.
