Aboriginal track

My street, or an extension of it. This is a path through a reserve at the bend in my street. I imagine that my street was once an ancient Aboriginal track. There is a shelter nearby (see post from a few days ago) where a dig dated occupation back 10000 years. My street is a natural track leading from one beach to another. The palm is a Cabbage Tree Palm which my street is named after. Part of the City Daily Photo theme day for December, for other click here.

  1. What a history - I like that even today, good use was made of an ancient path already laid by long-gone people. That is a very pretty palm & well-captured. (Ah, wish I were nimble enough to go into sniper poses for my photos! I knelt as far as I could and positioned the camera as close to grass as possible:)

  5. Great shot, it looks an inviting track. I would hope that you take the track to the beach for a swim on this very hot weekend.

  7. Since I live in a huge metropolis, the thought of a street that ends in a track like this just bowls me over. Thanks for naming the lovely palm—it was what caught my eye first!

  8. I'm with Neil and Robert: this is a superb interpretation of the theme! A thousand year old lane you happen to live on and now it's named for the flora found there. So cool!

  9. I was immediately reminded of a poem by Sam Walter Foss called The Calf Path. http://holyjoe.org/poetry/foss3.htm A wonderful interpretation of the theme!
