He is not buried here but in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois. This is in Washington DC. Many people look at the back of Lincoln’s head, believing they will see an image of Robert E. Lee looking back towards Arlington. Myth.

How can you look at the back of his head, it is against a wall! Sounds to me like wishful thinking. I bet it is only done by the keepers of the Gray Flame.

ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing sculpture of Abraham Lincoln. Didn't know about the myth that has developed about the image of Robert E Lee. Interesting. I have visited it a number of times. Thanks for the memories Peter.
