Twin phone boxes on The Corso at Manly. When did you last use a payphone?
Death of the payphone began here:'On April 3, 1973 Motorola manager Martin Cooper placed a cellular phone call (in front of reporters) to Dr. Joel S. Engel, head of research at AT&T's Bell Labs. This began the era of the handheld cellular mobile phone."
Sorry, yesterday's puzzle will continue next week.
Oh I like it! I cant even remember the last time i have SEEN a payphone around these parts:)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the other day when I shot a pay phone in a country town that they are a fast dying breed. What's left are usually vandalised.
ReplyDeleteSomeone asked me today where they could find a payphone. I had no idea and lent them my phone.
ReplyDeleteSoon to be extinct.
ReplyDeleteStill see quite a few payphones in the City here. But I haven't used one for many many years!
