Not many know that the first meeting of the Australian Aborigines Progressive Association was held here in 1925, led by Fred Maynard. Maynard had close ties with the Jamaican activist, Marcus Garvey, who had rallied for black unity in Harlem, New York. St David's is an important part of the story of Aboriginal people in Australia and should be protected always.
