Korean War Memorial

The memorial commemorates the Australian and Korean veterans of the Korean War (1950 – 1953). The NSW Korean War Memorial was officially dedicated on 26 July 2009. The memorial design was selected by a limited design competition run by the NSW Government Architect’s Office. The winning competition entry was submitted by Jane Cavanough (Artlandish Art and Design) and Pod Landscape Architecture.

The Conservatorium of Music

When the doors of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (at that time known as the NSW State Conservatorium of Music) opened to students on 6 March, 1916 its stated aims were "providing tuition of a standard at least equal to that of the leading European Conservatoriums" and to "protect amateurs against the frequent waste of time and money arising from unsystematic tuition".
