Used as a warehouse for shipping now housing upmarket restaurants in The Rocks.

At the Overseas Passenger Terminal there is a great observation area where you can see all the produce being loaded for the cruise, sadly I was not going anywhere.

This is the place to go if you are travelling by sea - the best way to enter and leave Sydney.

Seafood Kebab

At the markets on Friday nights there are plenty of food stall, I actually do not recommend the seafood kebab.

This certainly caught my eye in the historic 'Rocks' area of Sydney.

Sin City

I guess it is a good a name as any for Sydney - we have had our share of crime, and there is a good museum down near the Quay. According to sydney.com.au

"The Justice & Police Museum served as a policy station to a Court between 1856 to 1886. The museum has been restored to its 1890s character emphasising its themes of crime and punishment and law and order.

The Justice & Police Museum features a magistrates court, a recreated police charge room and remand cells. There is also a gallery of mug shots of Sydney's early criminals and a variety of weapons used during those early years. It was early and the only people about were some joggers using the steps for their exercise.

Royal Botanic Gardens

The best time to walk around the gardens, I think, is morning. Here is the view to Farm Cove of one of the picnic shelters.

Boy Charlton Pool

Named after a famous Aussie swimmer Andrew 'Boy' Charlton this pool is on Wooloomooloo Bay and has a great cafe.
Wiki says "Andrew Murray Charlton (12 August 1907 – 10 December 1975), known popularly as Boy Charlton, was an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1920s and 1930s who won a gold medal in the 1500 m freestyle at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. He set five world records and also won a further three silver and one bronze medal in his Olympic career."

No I am not being paid by the ICH Group but here is the view from the Harbour side of the Intercontinental Hotel.

Continuing the Oprah theme this week. This is where Oprah group is staying, it is on Macquarie Street straight up from the Opera House.

Inside the hotel, where Oprah's entourage is staying, is the 'Cortile' area. It is the old treasury building where all the gold from the gold rush days was stored.

King Parrot

One of the pair of King Parrots that visit me occasionally - I never feed them as it is not good for them.

Welcome to the newly renamed OPRAH House, yep Oprah Winfrey is in town and we welcome her and all her guests. This may be one of Tourism Australia's more successful strategies - better then a recent campaign with the tag line "Where the bloody hell are you?"

In the back streets of Wooloomooloo there is this old sandstone cottage, the bars are a clue to the rough section of town it is in.

These little vans park anywhere they please to maintain the signs and bus stops around Sydney, sporting the Aussie Flag I think they are a French company.

Coming to work across the bridge on the day the dust storm hit Sydney.

Lunchtime Hyde Park

Believe it or not that is the end of my lunch time walk that I started on 10 November. Hyde Park is full of people relaxing on this sunny day.

One of the old style pubs in the back streets off William Street. A cold beer and a counter lunch is what I feel like but did not have.

Still in Wooloomooloo here is a modern building that houses all the CCTV for the various roads underneath us.

Under the Eastern Suburbs railway viaduct is a grafitti wall. Home of the homeless out of the weather.

Christmas at Customs House

In front of Customs House is a fine Christmas Tree. Now it is December it is TIME to start to think about Christmas.

Sculpture by the sea

THis was formerly at the Sculptures by the sea near Bondi but was moved here outside the Opera House - love the blue at night.
